Download and Install 1&1 Professional Backup for Windows

Follow the steps below to download and install the 1&1 Professional Backup client on your Windows Server.

The 1&1 Backup Manager uses TCP port 443 for local installations and for communicating with the backup server. Prior to installing the 1&1 Backup Manager, ensure that TCP port 443 is open for incoming and outgoing requests.

Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package. If using Internet Explorer, add the 1&1 sites as trusted sites or turn off Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration temporarily.

Save the file to your desktop or download folder. File downloading

When the file is finished downloading, click on Run from the dialogue box or double-click the icon from the folder where it was saved. Execution of file

Use the drop-down menu to select the language and click Next. Language settings

Enter your 1&1 Professional Backup User name and Password. This information can be found on the Professional Backup Account Overview page from Step 5. Click Next to continue. Access control

Choose an encryption password and repeat the password in the Confirm field. Click Next to proceed.
Please note:
If you forget your Encryption password, you will not be able to restore your data in the event of data loss.

To configure 1&1 Professional Backup to automatically backup your data, click the check-box next to Start daily backup at: and choose a time. Choose a time when you are not typically using the server so it does not interfere with scheduled processes.

Use the check-boxes to determine which files will be excluded from the backup. Click the Next button after selecting your exclusions. Exclusion of files

Enter your E-mail address to have a backup report sent to you. Use the the drop-down menu to determine the interval in which the backup report will be sent.
