Set Up a Reverse Map

Learn how to set up a reverse map for an IP address.

Just as domains can be assigned IP addresses, IP addresses can also be assigned domains. The assignment of a domain to an IP address is called reverse mapping. Most commonly, reverse mapping is used when the IP address is needed for mail services. Follow the steps outlined below on how to set up a reverse map.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.
Step 2
Click on the Server Administration panel title from the 1&1 Control Panel Start page.

Step 3
From the Server Administration panel, click on IP Address Overview.

Step 4
Check the box next to an IP address and click on Reverse Mapping.Your domains

Enter the domain name and click the OK. Confirm mapping

Please note:
All changes, though live on the 1&1 Server within minutes, may take up to 1 hour to be fully updated and recognised by all servers/computers on the Internet.
