Set up a Firewall on a 1&1 Cloud Server

Learn how to create a firewall on your 1&1 Cloud Server in order to defend your server from unauthorized requests or packets.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Select Firewall Policies from the Network section of the Infrastructure menu. 1&1 Cloud Panel

Click the radio button next to the firewall policy to select it and then click the Clone button. Firewall policy menu

You will be prompted with an alert message confirming your action. Click Yes to proceed. Alert message

Click the pencil icon to rename the firewall policy. Firewall policy menu

A text box will appear and you can enter the name of your policy. Once you're finished, hit the Enter key to complete the process. Firewall policy menu

You can create a new rule by entering the data in the provided text boxes towards the bottom of the configuration menu. Configuration menu

You have the option of editing and removing rules by selecting the respective button. The pencil button will allow you to edit a rule and the (-) button will allow you to remove a rule in its entirety. Configuration menu

Now that you've configured your firewall policy to your liking, the next step is to assign it to a server. Click the Assign button to assign it to a server. Assign IP menu

You can select a server from the provided list by checking the box next to it or you can manually select a server by entering its IP address in the text box at the top of the window. Once you've selected the server click Save changes to apply the firewall policy to it. Assign IP menu
