Integrate Shared Storage on a 1&1 Cloud Server (Debian/Ubuntu)

For 1&1 Cloud Servers

Learn how to integrate the Shared Storage into Debian/Ubuntu.

Prerequisites:

  • You have the shared storage to create and configure the access permissions for the desired server.
  • You have downloaded the Kerberos Key.
  • You noted the NFS path.

Step 1
Install the packages krb5 and nfs:
: ~ # Apt-get install nfs-common krb5-user
Step 2
To enable the NEED_GSSD parameter, enter the yes option in /etc/default/nfs-common in the NEED_GSSD line.
Step 3
Unzip the keberos keyfile, copy the krb5.conf and krb5.keytab files and insert them into /etc.
Step 4
Start the required systems.

Debian:
: ~ # service nfs-common restart

Ubuntu 12:
: ~ # initctl restart portmap

Ubuntu 14:
: ~ # initctl start gssd
Step 5
Create the directory under which the storage should be integrated:
: ~ # mkdir / mnt / shared

If you want to create numerous storages, create an additional directory (e.g. /mnt/shared2) and repeat the following steps for all storages.
Step 6
Mount the shared storage with the option sec = krb5. For this you need the NFS path. Example:
:~# mount -o sec=krb5 vid12345.nas1.lan:/vid12345 /mnt/shared
