Manually Set Up E-mail with Windows Live Mail using POP3

The following steps will teach you how to sync your 1&1 e-mail with Windows Live Mail using POP3.

Follow the instructions below to sync your e-mail account with Windows Live Mail. Before you begin, you will need to have Windows Live Mail already installed on your computer and a 1&1 e-mail account created.

Please note:
1&1 suggests the use of IMAP over POP3.

Step 1
Open Windows Live Mail and select Add e-mail account from the left hand side.

Enter your full E-mail address, Password, Display Name and check the box for Remember password if you do not want to enter your e-mail account's password ever time you check or send mail. When you are finished, click the Next button.

Select POP3 from the drop-down box.

Enter pop.1and1.co.uk as the Incoming server address.
Check the box for This server requires a secure connection (SSL) and ensure that the Incoming server port is set to 995.
Ensure that Clear text authentication is selected from the drop-down menus
Enter your full 1&1 e-mail address in the text box for Login ID (if different from e-mail address).
Enter auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk in the text box for Outgoing Server.
Check the box for This server requires a secure connection (SSL) and ensure that the Outgoing server port is set to 587.
Check the box for My outgoing server requires authentication.
When finished, click the Next button.

Click the Finish button.

Setup is complete! You will see your account on the left hand side of the Windows Live Mail window.
