Create a New FTP Account in a Linux Package

For Linux packages.

This article describes how to create an FTP account for a Linux hosting package.

Follow the steps below to set up a new FTP account in your Linux package to start transferring files to your webspace. If you are using a Windows package, please reference Create a New FTP Account in a Windows Package.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.
Step 2
Click the FTP Account link from the Web Space panel.
Hosting > FTP Account
Access > FTP Account

Step 3
Click New User. If the button is greyed out, then you have likely reached the maximum number of FTP accounts allowed for your package. FTP Account > New User
FTP Account > New User
Step 4
Input the credentials listed in the table below and then click the Save button.
User name Complete the User name to distinguish this account from others
Password Enter a password of at least 7 characters
Repeat password Enter your password again for confirmation
Description Enter a description for the FTP account to remind you later who/what it is for
Directory Click Search to select or create a directory folder

Step 5
A confirmation is displayed that the FTP account should be available in a few minutes. You can now connect to your webspace by using one of your domains in the package as the hostname/server.
