Upload/Publish from NetObjects Fusion 1&1 Edition to Webspace

In this article you will be shown how to publish files or folders to your webspace using NetObjects Fusion.

NetObjects Fusion 1&1 Edition is available from the 1&1 Control Panel for all hosting accounts opened after September 1st 2010.

Step 1
Launch NetObjects Fusion 1&1 Edition from your computer's Start menu.

Click on Publish Site when you are ready to upload your content to the 1&1 webspace so that it is live for your visitors.

The Publish Site window opens. Click Edit (pencil icon) to configure your FTP settings for publishing.

Click New to add a new publishing profile with your FTP information.

  • Select FTP (File Transfer Protocol) from the Server Type drop-down box.
  • Enter a Profile Name such as 1&1 FTP Publish or 1and1help.com FTP Publish.
  • Enter your domain name in the Server text box.
  • Enter the domain's destination folder that is set in the 1&1 Control Panel. Of course you can Check or Update which Folder your Domain Points to first. If your domain points to the root of your webspace (destination will say (/.) in the 1&1 Control Panel), then leave this text box empty.
  • Enter your default FTP user name in the User Name text box. This is the original FTP user name that was provided for you when ordering your new package and cannot be deleted.
  • Enter your FTP password for the default FTP account. If you do not remember your FTP user name or password, you can Reset It.
  • Enter the full URL for your domain. Do not forget to include the http:// prefix.

Click Test Connection to test the FTP connection.

The test should complete successfully if all information is correct. To proceed, click OK.

If there are problems connecting, please try re-typing your FTP username and password. You may also Try Setting a new FTP Password so that you know for certain what the FTP password should be.

Click Close to save your settings and close the window.

  • Ensure that the new publishing profile you just created is selected from the Publish files to drop-down box.
  • From the Pages to publish drop-down box, choose an option. You would choose to publish the Entire site.
  • When your options have been chosen, click Publish.

Your site files will be uploaded by NetObjects Fusion. Depending on the amount of files, their size and your connection speed, this may take some time.

After your FTP Publishing profile has been created and your settings saved, you then have the option to click Publish in the NetObjects Fusion window.

Select your newly created Publishing profile from the drop-down box and click connect.

Step 13
Fusion connects to your webspace via FTP and displays all uploaded files on one half of the window and the project's local files on the other side of the window. This full screen Publish window allows easy comparison of local and remote files and allows for drag-and-drop uploading/downloading if needed.
