Create a New MySQL Database

This article describes how to set uo a new MySQL database.

Follow the steps below to create a new MySQL database to upload files to your webspace.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Click the MySQL Administration link from the Hosting > Database panel.

Click New Database.

You will be prompted to enter a Description of the new database. This is to assist you in differentiating one database from others and can be named whatever you like. The version of the database will also be displayed on this page. You will also need to choose a Password and Repeat the Password to confirm its spelling.

Please take note of your password for the database as passwords are no longer displayed anywhere in the 1&1 Control Panel as a security precaution. If you forget your password in the future it can be reset.
When you are finished, click Set Up.

Step 5
Your database name, host name, user name, etc will be displayed on the next page. While this information is available right away, the database is just being created and may not be available until setup has completed.

Once you have taken note of the MySQL information, click Go To Overview

Step 6
Most likely the database will not be available right away. You will see the database listed in the MySQL Administration page but it will likely have a status of setup started, meaning the database is not available as of yet to make any changes.
Step 7
Once complete, the status will change to ready and you will see three buttons for editing the database.
