Connect to a MySQL Database

Find out how to connect to a MySQL database.

To set up the MySQL database connection, you will need to know your Username, Password and Database Name. This article will show you how to retrieve this information.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Click the MySQL Administration link from the Hosting > Database panel.

Your current databases will be displayed with the Database Name, MySQL User Name, your Host Name, Description, Version and Status. The password for databases is not displayed in the Control Panel for security reasons. If you have forgotten or lost your MySQL database password, you can reset it by following the next steps.

Optional: Click Edit for the database which needs its password reset.

Optional: On this next page, you will be prompted to enter a new password into two text boxes to verify the spelling of the password. You may optionally create or change the database's description such as "joomla database" for your own reference. When you have completed filling out the necessary fields, click Save to update the changes.
