Transfer an External Domain from a 1&1 Account to Another

For domains set up in your 1&1 Control Panel as external domains (DNS transfer), there are two options when attempting to transfer this domain to another 1&1 account or package:

Transfer of Registrar
It is possible to initiate a Transfer of Registrar to completely transfer the domain from its current provider to 1&1. Choosing this option will result in paying 1&1 the annual registration fee for the domain.
DNS Transfer to another Account/Package
It is possible to set up the domain in another account as an external domain (DNS Transfer). Since the domain is already set up as an external domain (DNS Transfer) in one 1&1 account, the domain will have to be removed from this account before the option is available to perform a DNS Transfer of the domain in another account/package.

To move an external domain (pointing to 1&1 DNS) from one package to another please follow these instructions:

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Contract Page. 1&1 Contract Page
1&1 Contract Page

Use the login details of the account that currently has the domain set up as an external domain (DNS Transfer).
Step 2
Remove the domain from the account so that it can be be set up as an external domain in another package. This process does not cancel the registration for the domain as it is not registered with 1&1.
Step 3
It takes up to 24 hours for the domain to be removed from its current package. Once the domain has been removed successfully, you may then point the domain to 1&1 Name Servers.
