Transfer a Domain from a 1&1 Account to Another

Learn how to transfer a domain from one account (Customer ID) to another.

The package that currently holds the domain should have a different Customer ID from the package that will receive the domain. Transfer a domain to another package within the same account if you want to move a domain from one package to another and both packages have the same Customer ID.

If you are the account holder gaining the domain, please request the domain's authorisation code from the current domain holder if the domain being transferred is a .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .name or a .us domain. Other domain extensions will not require an authorisation code to complete the transfer.

Please note:
Before transferring a domain, please backup all website files, databases, e-mail accounts, and take note of any DNS settings or subdomains created under the domain as no data or configuration will transfer with the domain.

A notification will be sent to the current domain holder's account via E-mail that a domain transfer has been requested and is awaiting approval/denial. You may now contact the current domain holder (if not yourself) to say that the request has been made and is awaiting approval before the domain transfer can begin.
