For non-UK domains, you will receive an E-mail addressed to the Reg-C or Admin-C contact specified for the domain to acknowledge and allow the transfer. Once the acknowledgement for a transfer is received, 1&1 will start the actual transfer process, which usually takes 5 calendar days.

For UK domains, you will need to contact your current registrar and update the domain's tag to 1AND1 before the transfer process will begin. Once the tag has been updated, the transfer typically takes about 24 hours.
