As a safety measure, there is a 30-day redemption period for all domains which starts when the domain name reaches its expiration date. During this period, the domain name is no longer active but no one else is able to register it. This allows the domain owner 30 days to re-register the domain before it expires.
To begin the process of account redemption or if your domain has expired unintentionally, complete a Domain Redemption Request Form and fax it to 0845 076 2202.
Once the domain has been recovered and 1&1 re-registers the domain name for you, the annual domain name registration fee found on the 1&1 Domain Price List still applies to secure the domain name for you over the next year.
To recover a domain name you have to have an active account in the same name as the domain's previous account. If you do not have an active account, create a hosting account on our Order page or order a domain holding account.
Only domains that have been registered with 1&1 can be re-registered after expiration. If the domain that has expired was registered with another company, you have to contact that registrar to recover the domain from the redemption period.
