What alternative is there to the FrontPage full text search?

You can integrate a full-text search into your website using the Google Search Engine. To integrate Google Search into your web site, proceed as follows:

You need a Google mail account (GMail) to be able to use Google Search. If you do not have one, you can create one on Google's website at: https://www.google.com/accounts/

Step 1: To create a Google search engine, go to: http://www.google.com/coop/cse/ . The site offers comprehensive help, including FAQs regarding the Google search engine.

Step 2: Click on the Create a Customer Search Engine button

You will be prompted to sign into your Google account with your user name and password. You can sign up to Google if you do not have a Google account yet.

Step 3: Enter the requested basic information for your search engine on the page that is displayed. For example, you need to enter a name and description for your search engine. You also need to specify keywords for your search engines.

Step 4: After entering the basic information requested, choose whether you want the Standard Edition or Business Edition. The Standard Edition is free, while the Business Edition is subject to $100 per year.

Step 5: Accept the Terms of Service and click on the Next button to continue.

Step 6: The Preview page is displayed. You can enter a search term in the entry field to try out your search engine.

Step 7: Click on the Finish button.

Step 8: On the subsequent page that is displayed, called "My search engines” click on homepage in the "search engines I have created section”.

Step 9: On the page that is displayed click on Add this search engine to your blog or webpage.

Step 10: The page that is displayed allows you to customise the look and feel of the search engine for your site. Click on the "Get the code” button to get the search engine code. Paste this code into the relevant HTML page of your site for the search engine to be available.

Step 11: Start FrontPage and open the website. Open the page of your website in which the search is located. Open the HTML Code view page.

Step 12: Delete the entire line beginning with !--webbot bot="Search” and in its place paste the source code which you copied from the Google page. Switch to the Preview mode. You should now see the Google search on your page.

Step 13: Publish your website for the change to be available online.
