How do I set up an Exchange Account?

Step 1
Log in to the 1&1 Control Panel using your Customer ID OR domain name and your password.

If you have only one package, you will land on the Administration page. If you have more than one package, select the package in question to reach its Administration page.

Step 2
Click the Microsoft Exchange link from the Mail panel.
Click Microsoft Exchange
Click Microsoft Exchange

Step 3
Click the Set Up button next to the Exchange account you wish to set up.

Step 4
Select Create an e-mail address or Use an existing e-mail address for the account. Creating an e-mail address will allow you to create an e-mail address at(@) one of the domains in the current package. If you wish to use an existing e-mail address (such as a Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail, a 1&1 e-mail address in another package, etc), you will have to supply the e-mail address and create a password for this exchange account.

Create an e-mail address

Enter the e-mail address' name and chose a domain from the drop-down box. Enter a password for the 1&1 Exchange account twice and click the OK button when finished. Then, skip the next step.

Enter the existing e-mail account in the text box and type a password for the 1&1 Exchange account twice. You may use the same password as the existing e-mail account's but it is not recommended.

Step 5
If you chose to create a new e-mail address, skip this step. Log into your existing e-mail account you entered in the last step. Open the e-mail sent to you from 1&1 containing the Activation code. Enter the activation code into the text box in the 1&1 Control Panel and click the OK button.

Step 6
Choose whether you would like to Download Microsoft Outlook 2007 or Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac and click the Next button.

Step 7
Click the Download and save link to download Microsoft Outlook 2007 or Microsoft Entourage 2004.

If downloading Microsoft Outlook 2007, be sure to take note of the license key as you will need it for the installation.

Step 8
If you chose to use an existing e-mail address you must configure the existing e-mail address to forward incoming mail to the exchange account. The exchange account's email will be your exchange username at(@) exchange.1and1.co.uk such as e111111111@exchange.1and1.co.uk.

When sending mail from your exchange account, it will look as though the mail is coming from the existing e-mail account you typed during setup (such as account@gmail.com). When someone replies to an e-mail sent from exchange, it will route back to the initial e-mail address (meaning the incoming mail will arrive in the Gmail inbox without a forward). Without setting up a forward to the exchange account, you will have to check your incoming mail from the existing e-mail account entered earlier.
