The Exchange server is not normally needed unless setting up an Exchange account manually. It is suggested to first set up the Exchange account using the downloadable file from XAdmin:

First, log into the Outlook Web Access portal. For more help, please reference, How do I login to Outlook Web Access?
Once logged in, click Options
toward the top-right of the page.
Next, select About
from the left-hand navigation menu.
Find the Mailbox server name
line. Your Exchange account's server will be listed here.
