What are Item attribute / variants?

With item attributes/variants you can set up additional properties of an item, such
as the playing time of a video, available show sizes, a message box etc.
You can set up any number of them for any and every item, and use them in PHP rules
for complex calculations.

There are 4 types of attributes / variants.

Step 1
selection: Give a name under "Attribute name". In the "Attribute value" box enter selection: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 (1,2,3,4 can be anything you want.) The "|" sign
is displayed by pressing the "Shift"- and "\" keys simultaneously on your computer.
So shoppers can now select them from a drop-down menu.

Step 2
textfield: Here you can enable one-line entries for markings. This would be of
interest if, for instance, you were selling coffee cups with individual imprints.
Give a name under "Attribute name". In the "Attribute value" box enter textfield: or textfield: Please enter the imprint message here
Step 3
textarea: Here you can create large textboxes with multiple lines.
Give a name under "Attribute name". In the "Attribute value" box enter textarea(cols=12 rows=3): or textarea(cols=12 rows=3): Default text
Step 4
statictext: It enables you to add the text of your choice to the item which
will only be displayed in the basket - i.e. "Special offer" or "Discount". The
customer cannot enter anything here. Give a name under "Attribute name". In
the "Attribute value" box enter the information.
