Change the Password on a Windows Server

Follow the instructions below to change the password for a Windows server user.

The easiest way to change your password is to hold the CTRL and ALT keys on the keyboard and press the DEL key once to bring up the Windows Security window.
When using Remote Desktop, hold the CTRL and ALT keys on the keyboard and press the END key once to bring up the Windows Security window.

Choose Change Password to change the current user's password.

Windows user passwords can be up to 127 characters including all special characters. This allows you to create a strong password.

Suggestions for creating a strong password
  • Does not contain your name or user name
  • Contains at least six characters
  • Contains uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Contains numerals
  • Contains symbols (characters not defined as letters/ numerals, such as !, @, #)

Make note of your changed password. 1&1 keeps no record of any changes made to the Windows Operating System (including password changes).
